H/STEAM Team Specialty Programs

STEAM Team Specialty Outreach Programs provide teachers and students with unique access to the Science Center’s interactive healthcare exhibits, SynDaver and The MEGA Brain. These programs allow students to take a deep dive into the anatomy and functions of the body in fun and engaging ways.

SynDaver (Synthetic Cadaver)

Cyndi, our SynDaver (synthetic cadaver), and our knowledgeable staff will help to answer your questions about the human body, how it works, and how to keep it healthy. SynDaver features complete and functional muscular, skeletal, circulatory, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and endocrine systems – all made from materials that look, feel, and respond just like live tissue. These hour-long experiences explore different systems of the body through a series of experiments and dissections.

How to Book a SynDaver Program:

Medical Lab Classroom Program – $365 per session
Grades 6-8
Explore the look, feel, and location of features within the human body with Cyndi, our synthetic cadaver! Students get familiar with human digestion through various hands-on activity stations. Participants practice diagnosing patients, discover how our bodies help break down food molecules, and simulate the entire digestive process!

Medical Lab Classroom Program – $365 per session
Grades 9-12
Explore the look, feel, and location of features within the human body with Cyndi, our synthetic cadaver! Students get familiar with human digestion through various hands-on activity stations. Participants practice diagnosing patients, discover how our bodies help break down food molecules, and simulate the entire digestive process!

Community Program – $500 for 2 hours
All Ages
Reserve our SynDaver for your special event! Participants will get to interact with our SynDaver to learn more about the human body.

The MEGA Brain

STEAM Team educators travel with The MEGA Brain to events across the Lehigh Valley and deliver hands-on science programs for curious minds of all ages. This 12-foot walkthrough inflatable brain is sure to add some unforgettable neuroscience to any event. Book an event for your school or community organization.

Participants enter through the frontal lobe, which is responsible for personality and higher cognitive functions, and exit through the cerebellum, the portion of the brain that controls balance and coordination. Along the way, they learn about:

Stroke, addiction, and other common brain conditions
How to keep your brain healthy
The latest medical treatments for brain trauma and disease

Please note: The MEGA Brain can only travel to locations approximately 30 miles or less from the Science Center.

We do our best to accommodate all requests. However, we recommend booking at least one month in advance to ensure program availability.
Outreach educators will arrive:
Up to 30 minutes prior to designated program start time for Classroom Programs.
One hour prior to designated program start time for Science Shows.
30-60 minutes prior to designated program start time for Community Programs and Science Celebrations.
Please remember to allow time for clean up when booking.
Billing through PayPal is available upon request.

Purchase orders are acceptable in advance only and will not be accepted on the day of the program.
Final payments are not accepted on the day of the program.
All final payments should be made two weeks in advance of the first program date.

A travel fee will be applied to all programs held at locations more than 50 miles round trip from the Da Vinci Science Center.

51-75 miles round trip: $75
76-100 miles round trip: $100
101-125 miles round trip: $125
Rates vary for programs farther than 125 miles round trip.
Travel restrictions apply for The Mega Brain programs.

Please call us immediately if you need to reschedule. We will make every effort to accommodate your request. If you need to cancel your program, please contact us at least two weeks in advance. A $35 processing fee may be applied for rescheduling or cancelling a program.
A $75.00 rescheduling fee will be charged if an educator is traveling to the program’s location prior to receiving notification that a program needs to be rescheduled.
Delivery of programs is weather dependent. Weather-related cancellations can be rescheduled to a new date within the current school year with no penalty. Weather-related cancellations that are not rescheduled to a new date within the same school year will be refunded.
